Abbeville is a county or district in South Carolina. It was formed in 1800 from the following county/ies or district/s: Abbeville in Ninety-Six District. It has functioned since 1785. Abbeville began keeping birth records in 1916, marriage records in 1911, and death records in 1911. It began keeping land records in 1791, probate records in 1772, and court records in 1791.
