Georgetown is a county or district in South Carolina. It was formed in 1800 from the following county/ies or district/s: Kingston/Winyah/Williamburg Counties in Georgetown District. It has functioned since 1772 (Georgetown District). Georgetown began keeping birth records in 1915, marriage records in 1911, and death records in 1915. It began keeping land records in 1862, probate records in 1862, and court records in 1863. For more information, contact the county at P.O. Drawer 421270, Georgetown 29440-0000.
