Beaufort is a county or district in South Carolina. It was formed in 1800 from the following county/ies or district/s: Beaufort District. It has functioned since 1772 (Beaufort District). Beaufort began keeping birth records in 1915, marriage records in 1911, and death records in 1915. It began keeping land records in 1863, probate records in 1865, and court records in 1865. For more information, contact the county at P.O. Drawer 1228, Beaufort 29901-1228. On the attached map, Beaufort is located at G8. Record loss, 1865. Beaufort District absorbed the four counties in Beaufort Circuit Court District.
