Orangeburg is a county or district in South Carolina. It was formed in 1800 from the following county/ies or district/s: Lewisburg/Lexington/Orange Counties in Orangeburgh District. It has functioned since 1772 (Orangeburgh District). Orangeburg began keeping birth records in 1915, marriage records in 1911, and death records in 1915. It began keeping land records in 1824, probate records in 1864, and court records in 1824. For more information, contact the county at P.O. Box 9000, Orangeburg 29116-9000.
