Spartanburg is a county or district in South Carolina. It was formed in 1800 from the following county/ies or district/s: Spartanburg County in Pinckney District. It has functioned since 1785 (in Ninety-Six District). Spartanburg began keeping birth records in 1915, marriage records in 1911, and death records in 1915. It began keeping land records in 1784, probate records in 1787, and court records in 1785. For more information, contact the county at 366 N. Church St., Spartanburg 29303-3637.
