Lancaster is a county or district in South Carolina. It was formed in 1800 from the following county/ies or district/s: Lancaster County in Camden District. It has functioned since 1785. Lancaster began keeping birth records in 1915, marriage records in 1911, and death records in 1915. It began keeping land records in 1762, probate records in 1820, and court records in 1800. Some Camden Circuit Court District conveyance records are included.
