The oldest collection of private manuscripts is a feature of its library. It publishes the Georgia Historical Quarterly.

The society maintains a library on Atlanta history and publishes a periodical entitled Atlanta History (see Georgia Periodicals, Newspapers, and Manuscript Collections). It and the Georgia Archives have copies of the selective records for tens of thousands of deceased white Atlantans (1840s'1920) compiled by the late Franklin Garrett. Mail requests are answered.
