Project Instructions
This collection contains a compilation of advertisements published in Boston, Massachusetts, of family members looking for missing individuals who had emigrated from Ireland.

From these advertisements we are keying the name of the person(s) who is missing, and any names of immediate family. Each person should be keyed as a separate record. The relationship field is for the relationship a person has to the primary missing person, which is typically the first name mentioned and in all capital letters. The primary missing person's relationship should be keyed as "self." The only acceptable relationships are:

  • Self
  • Father
  • Mother
  • Brother
  • Sister
  • Son
  • Daughter
  • Husband
  • Wife

If a person is not one of these relations, or the relation is not stated, this person should not be keyed.

Remember to create a new section for each date you encounter on the page. Click here to read more about adding a new section.
