Wilkes is a county in North Carolina. It was formed in 1777 from the following county/ies: Surry/Washington District. Wilkes began keeping birth records in 1913, marriage records in 1778, and death records in 1913. It began keeping land records in 1741, probate records in 1777, and court records in 1777.
