Stokes is a county in North Carolina. It was formed in 1789 from the following county/ies: Surry. Stokes began keeping birth records in 1913, marriage records in 1790, and death records in 1913. It began keeping land records in 1760, probate records in 1753, and court records in 1782. For more information, contact the county at P.O. Box 20, Danbury 27016-0020.
