St. Louis (City) is a county in Missouri. It was formed in 1804 (1764) from the following county/ies: (1876 became independent city separate from St. Louis County). St. Louis (City) began keeping birth records in 1825'*, marriage records in 1766, and death records in 1825'*. It began keeping land records in 1766, probate records in 1766, and court records in 1766. For more information, contact the county at 1200 Market St. St. Louis 63103. On the attached map, St. Louis (City) is located at E7. On August 22, 1876, St. Louis City separated from St. Louis County and began keeping its own records, also retaining all original St. Louis County records before 1876.
