Sandra Hargreaves Luebking

Sandra Hargreaves Luebking, FUGA, holds a BA in anthropology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has completed graduate course work in history and communications at University of Illinois at Springfield. Since 1979, Sandra has taught at Samford University's Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR), at Birmingham, Alabama. In 1990, she became course I coordinator for IGHR. From 1994 to 2005, Sandra was intermediate studies coordinator for the Genealogical Institute of Mid'‘America, Springfield, Illinois.

Sandra has conducted research projects for the Smithsonian Institution and for an international clientele. She is a past trustee for the Association of Professional Genealogists and has been a volunteer research assistant at the National Archives'Great Lakes Region.

Sandra is editor of FORUM, the national magazine of the Federation of Genealogical Societies. With Loretto Dennis Szucs, she is the co-editor of two award-winning books, including The Source: A Guidebook to American Genealogy. She also contributed chapters to Professional Genealogy (2001) and Printed Sources (1998).

Honors include: David S. Vogels Jr. Award (Federation of Genealogical Societies, 1992); Outstanding IGHR Alumni (Samford University, 1995); Fellow of the Utah Genealogical Association (1996); Willard Heiss Memorial Lecturer (Indiana Historical Society, 1999); and Richard Slatten Lecture Series presenter (Friends of the Virginia State Archives, 2003).
