San Mateo is a county in California. It was formed in 1856 from the following county/ies: San Francisco/Santa Cruz. San Mateo began keeping birth records in 1865 , marriage records in 1853, and death records in 1865. It began keeping land records in 1856, probate records in 1856, and court records in 1871.
