McDowell is a county in West Virginia. It was formed in 1858 from Tazewell, Va. McDowell began keeping birth records in 1872, marriage records in 1859, and death records in 1894. It began keeping land records in 1868, probate records in 1893, and court records in 1859. For more information, contact the county at 90 Wyoming St., Ste. 111, Welch 24801-2487.
