Gates is a county in North Carolina. It was formed in 1779 from the following county/ies: Chowan/Hertford/Perquimans. Gates began keeping birth records in 1913, marriage records in 1779, and death records in 1913. It began keeping land records in 1776, probate records in 1762, and court records in 1768.
