Clare is a county in Michigan. It was formed in 1840 (1871) (as Kayakee; renamed 1843) from the following county/ies: Mackinac *Midland/*Isabella/*Mecosta. Clare began keeping birth records in 1871, marriage records in 1871, and death records in 1871. It began keeping land records in 1865, probate records in 1872, and court records in 1871.
