Alpena is a county in Michigan. It was formed in 1840 (1857) (as Anamickee; renamed 1843) from the following county/ies: Mackinac/*Cheboygan. Alpena began keeping birth records in 1869, marriage records in 1871, and death records in 1871. It began keeping land records in 1858, probate records in 1858, and court records in 1871.
