Birth Place

Key the birthplace listed after the abbreviation "geb." or found in the field with a label such as: "Geburt", "geb.am," "geb," or "geboren." Sometimes the field or column that the birthplace is found in will not be labeled, or there is just a single line of information regarding an individual. If no column heading or other identifying words are given, it can be assumed that a locality written immediately following a birth date is the birthplace. For information provided in a single line or in a sentence, this is often clearly indicated by the words "in" or "at" following the birth date.

Use the provided drop-down list for assistance. If a location is not found in the list, key the location as seen. Separate jurisdictions such as towns and districts by a comma.
