Need help keying this project?

This collection contains the names of US Navy and Marine Corps members serving primarily on shore installations in yearbook formats.

We will be keying name, service year, and service place fields. We will not be keying ranks.

The Service Year field is normally only found at the beginning of a microfilmed roll on the cover of the book, or on an introductory page. Occasionally, the service year is found in the images in a section header.

The Service Place is sometimes found with the Service Year on the cover or introductory page if the book is for a particular unit. If the book is a register, such as US Naval Officers for the year 1914, the Service Place is a part of each record. Sometimes the Service Place is a ship, sometimes a shore location. If a ship, such as U. S. S. Nevada, key the "USS" portion with no spaces or puncuation. If the place is a shore location, then key as seen.
