About this project The Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company (LCNC) was formed in 1820 by a merger of the Lehigh Coal Company and the Lehigh Navigation Company. Operations of the company included navigation improvements on the Lehigh River and railway and canal construction, as well as exploitation of the Lehigh anthracite fields. The Lehigh Navigation Coal Company was formed in 1930, essentially as a holding company for the LCNC and other companies. The company went out of business in 1965.

Project Instructions
The records in this collection contain information regarding employees of The Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company. Images are on preprinted forms, the majority of which are typed and therefore easily transcribed. The handful of records that have been handwritten appear in most cases to be easily deciphered. This collection contains a wealth of information for the genealogist with fields that establish an individuals birth, residence, number and age of children, employment history and more.

Many of the records will contain a social security number. Due to the sensitive nature of this information we ask that you keep it confidential and not share screen shots containing the number on the wiki or the message boards.
