Project Instructions
This collection contains census books enumerating Cherokee Indians residing in the communities and counties within the Cherokee Indian Reservation, or Qualla Reservation, in western North Carolina.

Images of the census with names to be keyed should be classified as a "Census Page." From these images we are keying the name, gender and age where available. English names should be keyed into the Given and Surname fields, while Indian names should be keyed into the Indian Name field.

If ditto marks appear, such as for a surname, the value above should be keyed. The F3 key can be used to copy a value from the above field.

Images of the census that do not contain any names should be classified as "Continued Image."
