Project Instructions
This collection contains records of the United Methodist Church in New York and vicinity. Included are membership records, records of pastors, baptism, marriage, and burial records as well as other various documents and histories.
This project has a variety of form types. Pay special attention to the keying instructions for how to identify and key each record.
You may need to look at the image that follows the one with the primary names to determine the correct form type. For instance, the first page may say "Register of" in the header, and the second page will have the remainder of the header - "Baptisms." The easiest way to view the image before or after is to click on the page icon in the upper left corner of the tool - you can read more about how to do that here. If your image set will not allow you to see the image that follows, use the image samples in the wiki to help determine the correct form type.
Please note that in general, images with recorded "minutes" notes should be marked as the 'Cover page' form type. These will often have persons who were nominated and or elected to certain positions. We will not be keying these names. Again, the images in the wiki image samples should be used to assist in keying.
A line number will be keyed on Marriage forms with columns. Please pay special attention to the instructions for keying line number.
