About this project
This project will consist of keying records relating to the awarding of Citizenship for the city of Lübeck, Germany. We will be keying the name and the citizenship award date, and on later records birth date and birth place information.

Project Instructions
This collection contains citizenship records for the city of Lübeck, Germany. We will be keying the name and award date of citizens, and on later records birth dates and places.
Early records might only contain a year at the top of the page, the name of the citizen, and the name of two witnesses, joined by a bracket. Later records might be on pre-printed forms or written out in paragraph form. In all cases key the name of the new citizen. Do not key the names of witnesses.

Choose the Citizen Register form type for images that contain lists of individuals granted citizenship in the city.
Keying Samples
Prefix
Key any titles before the Given name, such as "Dr", "Rev", "Mr" or "Mrs", using a dictionary if provided for assistance. If a prefix does not appear in a dictionary then key the prefix as seen.
Given
Key the first name or initial and any middle names of the primary person to whom the record pertains using the dictionary provided for assistance. If a name does not appear in the dictionary then key the name as seen.
Surname
The Surname is the last name of the primary person to whom the record applies. Key the Surname using the dictionary provided for assistance. If the surname does not appear in the dictionary then key the surname as seen.
Citizenship Day
The Citizenship date is the date the primary person was awarded Citizenship status in the city. The Date may be found in the header of the page, at the beginning of the record, or in a column labeled "Tag/Jahr der Aufnahme/Annahme". Key the Day from the date.
Citizenship Month
The Citizenship date is the date the primary person was awarded Citizenship status in the city. The Date may be found in the header of the page, at the beginning of the record, or in a column labeled "Tag/Jahr der Aufnahme/Annahme". Key the month using the provided dictionary.
Citizenship Year
The Citizenship date is the date the primary person was awarded Citizenship status in the city. The Date may be found in the header of the page, at the beginning of the record, or in a column labeled "Tag/Jahr der Aufnahme/Annahme". Key the Year from the date. Copy down the Year through the subsequent records until a new date appears.
Age
Key the age at the time the record was recorded, using the dictionary provided. Valid ages include numeric digits between "0" and "120" and fractions between "1/12" and "11/12". If an age includes years, months, and/or days key only the years. For example, if an age appears as 10 years, 7 months, key age as "10" If an age appears in months, such as 10 months, key age as a fraction: "10/12" If an Age includes years plus a fraction, such as 3 3/12, key only the year: "3." If the age is less than one month, key "0."
Birth Day
Key the birth day from the column labled "Geburst- oder Tauftag" or "Geboren - Tag"
Birth Month
Key the birth month from the column labled "Geburst- oder Tauftag" or "Geboren - Monat"
Birth Year
Key the two or four digit number designated as the birth year in the birth date. The Year must be either two or four digits. Key the birth year from the column labeled "Geburst- oder Tauftag" or "Geboren - Jahr"
Birth Place
Key the birth place from the record using the dictionary provided for assistance from the column labeled "Geburtsort". If a location is not found in the dictionary then key the location as seen.
