Project Instructions This collection contains population schedules for both cities and counties in Kansas. Information is being keyed from title page images and population schedules. The majority of the images should be marked as "Cover Page, Section Header, etc." Do not key forms with agricultural information on them.

Note: 5 images will be downloaded per image set. Because of the way the images are organized, some sets will have no names to key, and some will have as many as 30 names to key.

If you come across records where there is an individual listed with a surname and others listed below without a surname (generally this is the head of household and their family) please copy the surname down until you encounter the next surname.

Note: While reviewing this project, if you come across an agricultural image that has been keyed, review as normal.

Keying Image Sample

If the image is far too illegible* to key any names from, mark the image as "Cover Page, Section Header, etc." If you can read any part of the page, please mark the record as a Census form type and enter the heading and any names that you can decipher. Note: there are two reels in particular that are nearly entirely illegible, these are 2278162 and 2278164 (the enumeration date for both is 1 Mar 1919). Reels 2278163 and 2278164 contain faded, but still salvageable pages, other images have some spots of damage, but are not lost, an attempt should be made to salvage these.
