Project Instructions This collection contains population schedules for both cities and counties in Kansas.
Information is only being keyed from forms that say "Schedule 2" at the top of the image. There may be some pages that are a continuation sheet for the Schedule 2 form. Please key the names on the continuation forms. The majority of the images should be marked as "Cover Page, Section Header, etc." Do not key forms with agricultural information on them. 5 images will be downloaded per image set. Because of the way the images are organized, some sets will have no names to key, while others will contain images with 30 or more names to key.
If you come across records where there is an individual listed with a surname and others listed below without a surname (generally this is the head of household and their family) please copy the surname down until you encounter the next surname.
If you come across records where the town and or county is listed besides each name and not at the top of the page, please key this town and or county into the heading.
Key images top to bottom, left to right.
Project Form Types and Field Helps

Census Form
Use the "Census Form" type for images with "Schedule 2" at the top of the image. From these images, key all names and any date and location information available. If the image is far to illegible to key any names from, cancel the image set with the reason "Illegible". Do not key forms with agricultural information on them.
Note: While reviewing this project, if you come across an agricultural image that has been keyed, review as normal.

In some cases the township is written next to each individual to be keyed. If all townships are the same please key the township name into the header township field. If the township changes, key a new section for each township.

Census Form Image Samples
Cover page, Section header, etc.
Use the 'Cover page, Section header, etc' type for images that don't contain any data, but might be interesting to look at because they provide some type of context for the image set. For instance, historical notes, affidavits, and so forth.

Image with no data
Use the 'Image with no data' type for images that don't contain any data or any useful context that might be interesting for someone to look at. For instance, an image containing only the blank background or an image with a microfilm target on it.
