Project Instructions
This collection contains records from the great collection Famine Relief Commission, 1845'1847. The temporary Relief Commission was established in November 1845 in response to the failure of the potato crop, to administer temporary relief supplementary to that provided by the Poor Relief (Ireland) Act, 1838. Letters relate to crop failures, studies on potatoes and conditions in various areas. They are mainly from local relief committees, lieutenants and deputy lieutenants of counties, local clergy, and concerned citizens.

The records are handwritten and fall into two categories or form types. The 'List' form type includes records where names are presented in a list. The 'Letter' form type includes images of letters that were sent that contain names to key.

Note: When keying letters, the keyer will be required to read or scan the letter in order to pick out names to key.

Note: Per example 1, do NOT key company names.
