Project Instruction
This collection contains Petitions for Naturalization and other documents pertaining to the petitions. Only the Petition for Naturalization document will be keyed. The Petition for Naturalization is usually only one image; however, there are some which span two images.
The Petition for Naturalization form type will be used for the main Petition for Naturalization document, and the Petition Date form type will be used for any second pages of the petition for naturalization. The only fields which will be keyed from the second pages of the naturalizations are the Petition Date (Petition Month, Petition Day, Petition Year) fields. An example image for the only page acceptable as a Petition Date form type can be viewed by clicking on the "See Example" link.
The Index form type is provided to capture the index images known to be in this collection.
All other documents should be classified as a "Cover Page, Section header, etc" form type. This includes Declarations of Intentions and Arrival certificates.
Note: This project has some reels that were accidentally included that have have nothing to do with naturalization and are from another county. Please cancel these, and select "this image has problems." Write "not part of project" as the explanation.
This project also has petitions earlier than 1932. These ARE part of the project and should be keyed normally.
