Town

The Town name can be found at the top center of each page under the words "Town." Key it any time appears.

Use the dictionaries provided to see a list of potential place names within the county you are working on. If the name does not appear in the dictionary then key as seen. Do not key the word "Township" or "Village" after a town name.

Given

Key the first name or initial and any middle names of the primary person to whom the record pertains. If a name does not appear in the dictionary then key the name as seen. Only key each individual once. Do not key the same individual if ditto marks appear. Do not key businesses.

If more than one name appears on a line (such as Williams, Henry & George) key each person as a separate record (Henry Williams, George Williams). If the words "Administrator", "Trustee", or "Heirs" appear in a person's name enter Administrator, Trustee or Heir in the Suffix field. Do not key "et al" to the record if it appears after a person's name.
