Project Instructions
This collection contains information extracted from gravestones from several churchyards throughout the hundred of Lleyn and the commott of Eifionydd in Wales. It also includes explanatory notes respecting ancient houses, families, and other parts of the district. Some birth, marriage and death records are also included.
Latin, Welsh and English languages are all represented in this project. This being the case, not all "keywords" may have been represented in the instructions. Resources such as Google Translate, may help in deciphering what to key.
Sometimes the same record will be transcribed in multiple languages. For example, John Smith's tombstone may be included in both Latin and Welsh on the same image. If the record is in multiple languages key from the English version if present, if not key from the Welsh record. Only key the Latin record if that is the only version on the record.
If both death and burial dates are present, key the death date as the event date and key "death" for event type.
Due to the variety of records you may encounter there are 27 possible fields. Review the fields carefully to ensure you are capturing all of the data from the record."

Additional Image Samples
Event City
Key the event city as seen on the record using the dictionary provided for assistance. The Event city will be in bold capital lettering and is typically followed by the keyword "Churchyard" or "Church." Event city is typically at the top of the image, but may also be found midway down the page. Do not key the words "Churchyard" or "Church." If there are multiple event cities on an image, key a different section for each one. If the image does not contain an event city, leave this field blank.
Event Type
Key the event type as seen on the record using the dictionary provided for assistance. Event type will be found within the body of a record. Record type should be keyed for each record unless there is no way to determine what it is. If you cannot determine the event type, this field may be left blank. Because we are expecting an event type for most records, this field will need validation if left blank.
Event type must be either burial, death, baptism or marriage. Event type may be determined using the following keywords:
