Wisconsin Probate Records
This entry was originally written by Dawn M. Knauft and Carol L. Maki in Red Book: American State, County, and Town Sources.
Probate records in Wisconsin include wills, guardianship, administrator or executor bonds, and inventories. These records were usually established with the formation of the county and are the responsibility of the register of probate for the county. The FHL has microfilmed some Wisconsin probate files. Copies of these films and some unfilmed probate records are in the holdings of the appropriate Area Research Centers of the Wisconsin Historical Society.
