West Feliciana is a parish in Louisiana. It was formed in 1824 from the following parish/es: Feliciana.
West Feliciana began keeping marriage records in 1879. There are land, probate and court records for Feliciana Parish dating back to in 1811. History of the Florida Parishes of Louisiana
The land included in the Parishes of East and West Feliciana, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, Livingston, St. Tammany and Washington (collectively known as the Florida Parishes) were not included in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. In 1810, the short-lived Republic of West Florida was declared with St. Francisville as its capital and Fulwar Skipwith as its President. Some 90 days later, the United States annexed the territory and in 1812 it joined the Union as part of the State of Louisiana.
