Ventura is a county in California. It was formed in 1872 from the following county/ies: San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara. Ventura began keeping birth records in 1873 , marriage records in 1873, and death records in 1872. It began keeping land records in 1871*, probate records in 1873, and court records in 1873. Land was later added from Los Angeles County in 1881.
