Often confused with the Genealogical Society of Utah, which is a department of the LDS Church, the Utah Genealogical Association publishes the Genealogical Journal and a quarterly Newsletter, which contains information about new acquisitions in the FHL and articles of local interest. The association meets on a regular basis and is divided into several chapters, each with particular ongoing projects such as indexing birth and death records (see Utah Vital Records).
