San Luis Obispo is a county in California. It was formed in 1850 from the following county/ies: original . San Luis Obispo began keeping birth records in 1857 , marriage records in 1850, and death records in 1873. It began keeping land records in 1881, probate records in 1854, and court records in 1854. Land was later added from counties Santa Barbara (1854 and 1872), Monterey (1861), and Kerns (1885).
