San Jacinto Descendants

The San Jacinto Descendants was founded in 1965 by a group of lineal descendants of the heroes who fought at the Battle of San Jacinto under General Sam Houston on April 21, 1836 as well as those who were in the baggage train at Harrisburg, handing out supplies and tending the wounded. Operating continuously from 1965, through the present time, the San Jacinto Descendants has continuously carried out its original purpose.

The San Jacinto Descendants carries out this purpose by:

encouraging historical education •fostering the preservation of documents and relics •encouraging the publication of records of the individual soldiers •fostering a more comprehensive knowledge of Texas history in schools and public bodies •locating lost graves of the San Jacinto heroes •promoting the observance of San Jacinto Day, April 21st
