Richland is a county in northcentral Ohio. It was created in 1808 and organized in 1813 from the following county/ies: Franklin *Knox. In 1856 Richland experimented briefly with keeping birth records, but it was not until 1867 that they began keeping them consistently. Marriage records begin in 1813 and death records in 1867. Mansfield city began keeping death records in 1890. Richland County began keeping land records in 1814, probate records in 1813, and court records in 1819.
