Poweshiek is a county in Iowa. It was formed in 1843 (1848) from the following county/ies: Keokuk/*Iowa/*Johnson/ *Mahaska. Poweshiek began keeping birth records in 1880, marriage records in 1848, and death records in 1880. It began keeping land records in 1843, probate records in 1849, and court records in 1869.
