Montmorency is a county in Michigan. It was formed in 1840 (1881) as Cheonoquet; renamed 1843) from the following county/ies: Mackinac/unorganized *Cheboygan/*Alpena. Montmorency began keeping birth records in 1881, marriage records in 1881, and death records in 1881. It began keeping land records in 1943, probate records in 1943, and court records in 1940.
