Mitchell is a county in North Carolina. It was formed in 1861 from the following county/ies: Burke/Caldwell/McDowell/Watauga/Yancey. Mitchell began keeping birth records in 1913, marriage records in 1861, and death records in 1913. It began keeping land records in 1789, probate records in 1823, and court records in 1861.
