Mathews is a county in Virginia. It was formed in 1791 from Gloucester Couty, Virginia. Mathews began keeping birth records in 1865, marriage records in 1827, and death records in 1865. It began keeping land records in 1817, probate records in 1795, and court records in 1795. For more information, contact the county at P.O. Box 839 Mathews 23109-0839.
