Herkimer is a county in New York. It was formed in 1791 from the following county/ies: Montgomery. The earliest land deed in Herkimer was recorded in 1804, 1791'98*. Surrogate's Court records begin in 1792. One can contact the Surrogate's Court at 301 N. Washington St., P.O. Box 5550, Herkimer 13350-5550.
