Greene is a county in Indiana. It was formed in 1821 from the following county/ies: Sullivan/unorganized (Daviess). Greene began keeping birth and death records as early as 1882 and marriage records in 1821. It began keeping land records in 1822, probate records in 1823, and court records in 1831.
For marriage, probate, and court records information, contact the Greene County Clerk's Office at P.O. Box 229, Bloomfield 47424.
Birth and death records are available from the Greene County Health Department. The Greene County Health Department's website gives beginning dates of these records as 1885 for births and 1893 for deaths. However, researchers will find entries in the available birth and death indexes dated back as early as 1882 for both.
