Franklin is a county in Iowa. It was formed in 1851 (1856) from the following county/ies: unorganized (Deleware/ Polk)/ *Fayette/ *Chickasaw/ *Hardin. Franklin began keeping birth records in 1880, marriage records in 1855, and death records in 1880. It began keeping land records in 1855, probate records in 1855, and court records in 1856.
