Essex is a county in Virginia. It was formed in 1692 from the following county/ies: [Old] Rappahannock. Essex began keeping birth records in 1853, marriage records in 1804, and death records in 1853. It began keeping land records in 1692, probate records in 1692, and court records in 1692. For more information, contact the county at P.O. Box 1079 Tappahannock 22560-1079.
