Essex 1683 is a county in New Jersey. It was formed in 1783/1728 from East Jersey Province. The Earliest Land Deed was recorded in 1783/1804. For more information, contact the county at Hall of Records Rm. 240. The mailing address of the county Surrogate's Court is Rm. 213. On the attached map, Essex 1683 is located at C6. The Hall of Records is located at 465 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Newark, NJ 07102. Volume A of deeds, dating back to 1688, was supposedly destroyed in a fire. Volume A of mortgages is missing.
