Clayton is a county in Mississippi. It was formed in 1871 (as Colfax; renamed 1876) from the following county/ies: Chickasaw/Lowndes/Oktibbeha. Clayton began keeping birth records in , marriage records in 1872, and death records in . It began keeping land records in 1872, probate records in 1872, and court records in 1872.
