Clay is a county in Illinois. It was formed in 1824 from the following county/ies: Fayette/Crawford/Wayne/Lawrence. Clay began keeping birth records in 1877, marriage records in 1825, and death records in 1877. It began keeping land records in 1825, probate records in 1827, and court records in 1825.
