Choctaw is a county in Mississippi. It was formed in 1833 from the following county/ies: Choctaw cession, 1830. Choctaw began keeping birth records in , marriage records in 1881/1881, and death records in . It began keeping land records in 1880, probate records in 1879, and court records in 1881. For more information, contact the county at Ackerman 39765-0250. On the attached map, Choctaw is located at D6. Record loss, 1888. Chester was the first county seat but suffered several fires. No records from that period extant.
