Cherokee is a county in Georgia. It was formed in 1831 from the following county/ies: Cherokee lands; at that time including all of northwest Georgia from present day Polk, Cobb, and Forsyth Counties northward. Hall, Habersham, and Rabun Counties were the only exceptions. Cherokee began keeping birth records in , marriage records in 1841, and death records in .
