Chautauqua is a county in New York. It was formed in 1808 from the following county/ies: Genesee. The earliest land deed in Chautauqua was recorded in 1811. Surrogate's Court records begin in 1811. One can contact the Surrogate's Court at 3 N. Erie St., Mayville 14757. For more information, contact the county at 1 N. Erie St./P.O. Box 170, Mayville 14757-0170. On the attached map, Chautauqua is located at C1. Chautauqua was attached to Niagara County until 1811, but records kept in Buffalo were burned by the British in 1813.
