Chautauqua is a county in New York. It was formed in 1808 from the following county/ies: Genesee. The earliest land deed in Chautauqua was recorded in 1811. Surrogate's Court records begin in 1811. On the attached map, Chautauqua is located at C1. Chautauqua was attached to Niagara County until 1811, but records kept in Buffalo were burned by the British in 1813.
